On May 15, 2025, the City of Houston honored the legacy and impact of Motherhood Center by officially proclaiming the date as Motherhood Center Day. This historic recognition commemorates 25 years of dedicated service to expecting and new families throughout the Houston area—a milestone that not only marks years of growth and innovation but also highlights the deep trust and connections built with over 55,000 families.
The proclamation, signed by Mayor Whitmire, recognizes the organization’s long-standing commitment to maternal wellness, early parenting education, and community support. It is a powerful moment of affirmation for a team that has quietly and consistently nurtured Houston’s families through every phase of early parenthood.
25 Years of Service to Houston Families
Since its founding, Motherhood Center has remained rooted in a singular mission: to provide expecting and new parents with comprehensive, high-quality services in a nurturing and non-judgmental environment. Over the years, the center has grown into a trusted hub for childcare support, offering everything from:
- Baby doulas, nannies, and babysitting services
- Newborn care, childbirth, breastfeeding, and CPR classes
- Prenatal and postnatal massage therapy
- Fitness programs tailored for pregnancy and postpartum wellness
- Community-building events like Baby Bump socials
This unique blend of professional support and personal connection is what has made the Motherhood Center such a valued institution in Houston—and what makes its recognition by the city so well deserved.
A Message from the Founder
Founder Gabriela Gerhart shared her gratitude for the honor, reflecting on the significance of the moment for herself and the entire Motherhood Center team:
"I was deeply honored to accept the proclamation on behalf of the Motherhood Center. It was truly special to receive this recognition from Mayor Whitmire and to have it read by Councilwoman Sallie Alcorn.
We are incredibly proud of the work we do to ensure our clients have the best possible experience, and this acknowledgment means a great deal to our entire team. We are also excited to celebrate Motherhood Center Day on May 15th going forward!"

The proclamation itself shines a light on the multifaceted work of the Motherhood Center. It applauds the organization’s evidence-based, judgment-free educational approach and emphasizes the importance of fostering strong family foundations.
Importantly, the City of Houston recognized the Motherhood Center not only for its client services but for its broader role in uplifting the community through workshops, educational events, and charitable partnerships. From nurturing parent-baby bonds to supporting local nonprofits, the Motherhood Center has consistently extended its mission beyond its own walls.
