Position Details
We have been Houston’s trusted resource for expectant and new families for more than 25 years. We are seeking experienced, professionally trained Postpartum Doulas and Newborn Care Specialists (NCS) to join our team. Our Doula/NCS Team provides compassionate, non-medical postpartum and newborn support in clients’ homes throughout the Houston area.
Our Houston center, conveniently located on West Alabama near Weslayan, serves as a welcoming hub for expectant and new families, offering lactation services, parenting education and support groups, prenatal and postnatal massage, yoga and fitness classes, and professional childcare services.
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on newborn care and postpartum support
- Assist families with breast, bottle, and pumping routines within scope of practice
- Support healthy newborn sleep habits and routines
- Educate and reassure parents as they adjust to life with their newborn
- Assist with baby-related tasks such as bottles, pump parts, baby laundry, and nursery organization
- Provide respectful, non-judgmental care based on each family’s preferences
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of professional newborn care experience
- Certification as a Postpartum Doula or Newborn Care Specialist through an established training organization (see recommended training).
- Current infant CPR certification
- At least 3 recent, verifiable professional childcare/newborn references
- Knowledge of newborn development, feeding support, safe sleep practices, and postpartum recovery
- Strong communication skills and a professional, dependable, and compassionate approach
- Ability to pass a nationwide background check
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance
- At least 21 years of age
- Flexible availability for daytime and/or overnight assignments
We are especially interested in professionals with established Postpartum Doula/NCS education and credentials that may meet requirements for employer-sponsored or third-party benefit programs.
Position Details
- Compensation: $26–$30 per hour
- Schedule: Flexible daytime and/or overnight assignments
- Shift Length: 6 to 12 hours
- Location: In-home care throughout Houston and surrounding areas
