The Motherhood Center is honored to celebrate 25 years of service to Houston’s families with an official proclamation from the City of Houston, declaring May 15 as "Motherhood Center Day." In a recent feature on Houston Life, founder and president Gabriela Gerhart reflected on the Center’s journey—from its humble beginnings to becoming the go-to destination for expecting parents and young families in the Houston area. What began as a personal calling, shaped by Gabriela’s upbringing in a small Czechoslovakian village and her work as a baby nurse, has blossomed into a nurturing space lovingly referred to as a "mommy country club." Since 2000, the Motherhood Center has supported more than 50,000 families through its integrated services, which include childbirth education, newborn care classes, lactation support, prenatal and postnatal fitness, massage therapy, and an on-site retail boutique. Gabriela shared that her mission has always been to “recreate the village” for modern families—bringing together expert support, education, and community under one roof. As part of the Houston Life segment, co-hosts Derrick and Tessa participated in an interactive demonstration with the Empathy Belly, a 30-pound medically accurate simulator replicating the physical effects of pregnancy.
