This year marks an incredible milestone for us at Motherhood Center: 25 years of supporting Houston families through the life-changing journey of pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood.We’re honored to be celebrating this anniversary, and even more thrilled to have been featured in the May 2025 issue of River Oaks Lifestyle magazine. A Vision Born from Experience
Gabriela’s story began far from Houston—in the Czech Republic—where she trained as a pediatric nurse and witnessed firsthand how families thrive when surrounded by community support. After moving to the U.S. and working as a baby nurse, she realized there was a real need for a central place where parents could find guidance, education, and reassurance.In 2000, she turned that need into a solution: Motherhood Center. More Than a Center—A Community
Over the past two and a half decades, Motherhood Center has evolved into something far greater than a service provider. We’ve become a trusted partner for over 50,000 families, offering everything from prenatal yoga and childbirth classes to postpartum support, doula services, nanny placements, massages, and lactation consultations.Our in-person classes and social events—like our beloved Baby Bump Social—have brought thousands of families together, forming real friendships and support networks that last far beyond the baby years.
“One of my goals in creating the Motherhood Center was to recreate the village atmosphere I knew from my small hometown in Czechoslovakia. I didn't see that kind of support when I arrived in America, especially in a big city. I knew no one here, but now, 25 years later, I have built a village for both my clients and myself. Many of our clients have become dear friends, and helping to lay the foundation for their families is something I am proud of.” — Gabriela Gerhart
A Generational Legacy
One of the most rewarding parts of this journey has been watching our community grow—literally. We now see second-generation clients, and even grandparents returning to take refresher courses before their grandbabies arrive.
“Now, we see a third generation coming to the Motherhood Center. Young moms I once helped as a baby nurse are returning for Grandparents' Refresher classes, while their children attend pregnancy education, parenting classes, prenatal yoga, newborn care classes, massages, and Mom and Baby Yoga. The babies from 25 years ago are now bringing their babies to us.” — Gabriela Gerhart
Looking to the Future
While we’re celebrating the past 25 years, we’re also looking ahead with excitement. As parenting continues to evolve, so will we. We remain committed to meeting families where they are—whether through in-person care or our virtual services to reach parents across the country.
“When I founded the Motherhood Center in 2000, access to information and services was limited. Even Google was in its infancy, and pregnancy and parenting were not widely discussed. Now, 25 years later, these topics are part of media, politics, and boardroom conversations.
