Instructor Bios:

Rene Bryan, RN, CCE: René Bryan was born and raised in California.  René knew as a teenager she wanted to be a nurse and during her high school years she worked as a nurse's aid. René moved to Texas with her family in 1990 where she continued her education toward becoming a registered nurse.  She attended Houston Baptist University for nursing school.  While in school she worked as a patient care assistant in women's health and became intrigued with Labor and Delivery.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1994.  Since graduation she has worked for a large hospital in the Texas Medical Center.  After working for one year on a medical-surgical unit René decided to follow her passion.  She applied for a transfer to the Labor and Delivery unit and has been there since 1995.  She has also been teaching childbirth classes since January 1999.  In 2001 René obtained her Certification in Childbirth Education.  This course included self study, formal essays, presentations, and a written exam.  René again succeeded with flying colors.  After participating in hundreds of deliveries and teaching dozens of classes, René still gets excited every time she sees a baby born. Today René manages to juggle her time between being a full-time mother of two teenagers and a part-time Labor and Delivery nurse.  In addition, she teaches other expectant mothers and fathers the skills and information needed for their impending delivery.  She used the breathing and relaxation techniques she teaches during the natural birth of both of her children.  This is why she feels they are helpful.

Dena Rogge, CLD, LCCE: Rogge is a mother of four girls, ages 24, 19, 17 and 12.  Her oldest is expecting Rogge's first grandchild in April.  Rogge has been a certified labor doula since 2001.  Her practice consists of supporting women in all birth settings. Rogge has been Lamaze certified since 2004.

Angie Graumenz, RN, CLC: Graumenz was born and raised in Illinios and recently relocated with her husband to Houston. She married her husband Matthew in 2006 and had their daughter Cami in 2009. Since she was a teenager she knew she wanted to help babies come into the world. Graumenz went to nursing school and graduated from Southwestern Illinois College in 2006. She worked as a L&D nurse for five years and took over the Childbirth Educator position. She completed my Lactation Counselor Certification during this time and started providing lactation support to the families delivering at our hospital. Then started pursuing her Doula Certification; completed the classes and has submitted for certification as a Birth Doula. She loves every aspect of pregnancy, birth & babies and feels honored to be able to assist families through this amazing journey.
