Baby Nurse, Night Nurse & Baby Doula Services

in Houston and Austin

Newborn

Excitement, joy, nervousness and a feeling of being overwhelmed are just some of the many emotions felt by new parents. In the past, many mothers had support and help from other women when welcoming home a new baby. But with advances in technology and transportation, families today are spread out across greater distances and new mothers often face greater challenges in adapting to their new role. Our baby nurses, night nurses and postpartum doulas can help make this transition easier. (Although it may seem confusing at first, The Motherhood Center uses the terms "baby nurse, night nurse, baby doula and postpartum doula" interchangeably because these are all widely familiar terms.  We prefer to use the term "baby doula" to refer to care for both mother and baby after the baby has been born.)

Mission Statement

The Motherhood Center Baby Nurse Doula Agency provides trained professionals who care for the newborn, mother and whole family through non-judgmental educational, emotional and physical support. We understand families’ needs and tend to them during the day and night.

newbornHighest Standards of Training
The Motherhood Center Baby Nurse and Night Nurse Doulas are trained by Gabriela Gerhart, founder of TMC, as well as other educators and instructors at the center. Gerhart has more than 11 years experience in the field and ensures doulas receive extensive training and continuing education in the field as well as evaluations and assessments during and after an assignment. All prospective doulas go through a background check and are CPR certified with liability insurance.

“We have regular meetings with all doulas,” said Gerhart. “We share our thoughts and hear from guest speakers on different topics, such as baby and mother care, postpartum depression, relationship issues and mentoring. We are very hands on and work closely with our doulas.”

The Motherhood Center also works with local pediatricians to ensure baby nurse doulas are continually learning the latest in the field. The benefits of this continuing education make our night nurses, baby nurses, baby doulas and postpartum doulas stand out.

Disclaimer: Baby nurses from The Motherhood Center are newborn specialists, not licensed nurses. They do not perform clinical or medical care for mother or baby.
