For First-Time Parents:

This generation of first-time parents are the most-educated, but the least-experienced. More often having a baby will be the first time one or both parents has the chance to hold a newborn.

Often when new parents arrive home, their time is devoted to falling in love with this brand new baby and they ultimately neglect themselves. They forget to eat, and rest, and believe us nobody is prepared for the sleep deprivation, lack of free time, nursing schedule, and overwhelming change a new baby brings. Your world is about to change, in countless, wonderful ways! Let us ease your transition to parenthood. Having a Baby Nurse or Postpartum Doula will allow you the time to rest and recover while providing the  nonjudgemental educational, emotional, and physical support new parents seek.

“It was the best thing we did - having a Doula. We felt comfortable enough, with Jennifer in our home, to sleep through the night. This is what aided my recovery from an unplanned C-section.”

Dad-to-be:

Dads also benefit from our baby nurses/ postpartum doulas. Many new fathers feel overwhelmed by both the increased financial pressure and the new responsibility to be intimately involved in the care of a newborn. If a husband can’t take time off from work, he knows he is leaving his wife and newborn child in good hands. There is also a sense of relief knowing that both parents can get a relatively good night’s sleep, or even sleep through the whole night. This lends itself to both parents bonding with their new baby and helps the couple maintain aspects of pre-baby days.

For Families With Other Young Children:

While each birth and baby is different, if you are not a first time mom you might not be so worried about bringing home a new baby. Seasoned veterans can benefit from the comfort and regular sleep schedule a Baby Nurse or Postpartum Doula offers. Second and third-time parents can take advantage of quality bonding time with their newborn and an easier recovery from delivery. Our staff can be there to ease the transition for your older child(ren), allowing you to spend quality time with each child and helping you let go of the stress or even guilt of learning to juggle this new family dynamic.

For Parents Bringing Home Multiples or a Special Needs Infant:

Between 1994 and 2004 the multiple birth ratio in Texas alone increased by 30%.

Having a Baby Nurse or Postpartum Doula can help parents of multiples balance the care of more than one newborn. Feeding, diapering, and sleeping schedules all multiplied! The ingenuity and expertise of women who are experienced in the care of multiples can make all the difference in a smooth beginning to a journey that is (at least) twice the fun.

An average week in Texas delivers 1002 preterm babies.

Although most premature babies will pace with their full-term peers within a year or two of birth, preemies need special attention and most will require special care for at least the first few months after delivery.

In both cases the extra set of hands and expert knowledge our staff offers will make it possible for parents to accomplish seemingly impossible daily tasks or simply get the sleep they need to recharge for a new day. Because of the wide range in backgrounds of the women we work with, most have experience with multiples and preemies and are familiar with apnea monitors, feeding systems, and other medical equipment that you may be bringing home with you.
