Gymboree Play and Music has been a leader in child development for almost 30 years. Our Music program has been designed on the principle that every child is musical and can learn through music. Music making utilizes our whole brains and impacts the development of the whole child- cognitively, physically, and socially. In addition to language development and memory, music enhances a child’s sequencing and spatial reasoning abilities, which has later applications in math and problem solving.

When a child shakes a maraca, fingers a castanet, or sings out loud, they are developing their fine motor skills. And when music is experienced through a social context, it is a powerful tool that connects parent to child, child to peers, and even connects the child to others who have been making music since music began! Our program makes the most of this treasure trove of benefits through activities that encourage and strengthen the child in each stage of development. Through songs, instrument exploration, and movement activities, children explore the power of rhythm, melody, tonality and beat while nurturing key these physical, social and cognitive skills- all in a context that feels like play!
