Parent's Guide to
Baby Nurse, Night Nurse & Postpartum Doulas Services

Having a baby is a life-altering experience that takes many new parents by surprise. While this generation of first time parents is more educated, they are also the least experienced. For many parents, their baby is the first time one or both of them has a chance to hold a newborn. When they arrive home, they are often unprepared for the sleep deprivation, lack of free time, nursing schedule and other major changes a baby brings. While this can all seem overwhelming, Baby Nurse Doulas help parents make the transition more smoothly. Doulas allow parents time to rest and recover while providing nonjudgmental educational, emotional and physical support.

"It was the best thing we did - having a Doula. We felt comfortable enough, with Jennifer in our home, to sleep through the night. This is what aided my recovery from an unplanned C-section,” said one parent.

For the Dad to Be:

Moms and babies are not the only ones who benefit from baby nurses/postpartum doulas. Many new fathers feel overwhelmed not only by the increased responsibility of caring for a newborn, but also by the increased financial pressure. Having a baby nurse doula helps dads return to work rested and without worry, knowing their wife and baby are in good hands.

“We include dads in education,” said Gabriela Gerhart, founder of The Motherhood Center. “We help them find ways to help their wife and bond with their baby, making them confident dads. They see their wife rested and that makes them feel good.”

Being able to bond with their baby allows couples to adjust and also maintain aspects of their pre-baby days.

For Families With Other Young Children:

Parents who are expecting a second child also benefit from the expertise of a baby nurse doula. While each birth and baby is different, if you are not a first time mom you might not be so worried about bringing home a new baby. But seasoned veterans can benefit from the comfort and regular sleep schedule a Baby Nurse or Postpartum Doula offers. Second and third-time parents can take advantage of quality bonding time with their newborn and an easier recovery from delivery. Our staff can be there to ease the transition for your older child(ren), allowing you to spend quality time with each child and helping you let go of the stress or even guilt of learning to juggle this new family dynamic.
